Alliant Energy raises 2026 outlook as data-center demand expands

The supplied analysis supports a constructive but conditional view: resilient demand from data centers, regulatory support and investment in generation, storage and renewables could underpin growth over the next year. The case is not yet complete because execution, financing, dilution and the timing of load additions remain material offsets.

What changed

The current analysis describes a higher 2026 EPS outlook, a 17% larger capital plan through 2029, new or expanded data-center relationships, and additional generation, storage and renewable projects. It also highlights financing actions and regulatory approvals that support the plan; no prior-quarter analysis was supplied for a direct comparison.

Guidance delta

Management raised 2026 EPS guidance to $3.36-$3.46 and narrowed 2025 earnings guidance.

Key takeaways

  • Management highlighted a data-center pipeline that could add 3 GW and support 50% peak-demand growth by 2030.
  • The capital-expenditure plan increased 17% to $13.4 billion through 2029, focused on storage, gas, wind and renewables.
  • Iowa and Wisconsin regulatory approvals support rate stability and planned growth initiatives.
  • Financing plans include debt refinancing, junior notes and new equity through 2029.
  • The central question is whether load growth and capital deployment convert into durable per-share earnings growth.

Management priorities

  • Build data-center facilities in Iowa and Wisconsin and advance the related load ramp.
  • Expand energy storage, wind and natural-gas generation capacity.
  • Execute the enlarged capital-expenditure program while maintaining financing flexibility.
  • Use regulatory approvals and customer agreements to support rate-base growth.

Methodology

Reported and consensus figures come from FN2's earnings event records. Market reaction and volume are calculated from daily adjusted bars around the event; abnormal move subtracts the SPY move over the same window.

Analyst target low, average, and high values are derived at request time from each named analyst's latest persisted FMP target. The current-price marker comes from FN2's persisted market snapshot. They are sell-side estimates, not an FN2 valuation or recommendation.

Transcript intelligence is a structured synthesis of the current and prior earnings-call analyses. Missing values stay missing and are never estimated.
